SLG was back on the award circuit at the Roses Creative Awards, held in Manchester, 4th May 2017. The agency collected a Silver and Bronze gong, at a packed awards night which celebrated the best of creative work in digital, advertising and creative media.
SLG won Silver in the Most Creative Use of Media category for work with Cocoon, and Bronze in the Best TV/Cinema Commercial Produced for £20,000 or less category for our Debra campaign film.
To launch the new super comfy Cocoon mattress, we used late night YouTube pre-rolls to ‘wake up’ our actor and have him perform the ad every time someone hit ‘play’ on a video. Every time the audience watched a new video he got angrier and angrier, begging them to get a new mattress so that they – and he – could start sleeping better.
Debra is the national charity that supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). For children living with EB, the slightest touch can cause their skin to blister and tear – meaning love and hugs can hurt. Our campaign aimed to spark a conversation about EB and encourage regular giving for Debra. We told this story through Riley, a young boy with EB, and his teddy that’s never been hugged.
Paul Waters, Head of Brand Strategy at SLG, said it was a proud moment for the agency. “We’re always working hard to push the creative envelope for our clients across the board, but these two projects gave us an opportunity to do something particularly special.”
