The challenge

For over 30 years, Michael Brady has been one of the South East’s and London’s leading contractors, specialising in the design, planning, delivery and maintenance of high-end residential and commercial projects.

Its work ranges from ground-up new builds and architectural extensions, to complex renovations, listed restorations and discreet subterranean construction. All of which are executed with a commitment to achieving the very highest standards of quality.

But while Michael Brady is seen as competent, reliable and experienced, its brand identity didn’t effectively express the authority, reassurance and care that clients experience when engaging with the business.

Our job was to build a new brand identity. An identity built into a coherent system that could flex across every channel. An identity that quietly announced Michael Brady’s signature proposition of ‘uncompromising customer service’.

The solution

Part of the strategic process was to run a workshop that brought together key stakeholders from across the business for an open discussion. We covered various areas, including the brand’s long-term goals, how the business sees itself and how it’s viewed by potential customers.

We discovered Michael Brady has earned a quiet reputation as one of London’s luxury contractors, known not for self-promotion, but for faultless delivery and long-standing relationships. However, as the business grows beyond its boutique origins and begins competing for larger, more visible projects, the qualities that built its reputation are at risk of being lost in translation.

Our solution was to build a brand identity that proudly promoted the exceptional stewardship and care Michael Brady offers. It needed to clearly illustrate the brand’s proposition while helping the firm stand out against its competitors. This inspired the brand statement that we built Michael Brady’s guidelines around:

Unreasonably high levels of customer service. Unquestionable attention to quality and care.

The inspiration

Inspired by Will Guidara’s “unreasonable” hospitality, this is the idea that real distinction comes not from meeting expectations, but from choosing to go beyond what’s required, in ways that are personal and easy to remember, even when the gesture looks unnecessary on paper.

For Michael Brady, that same principle shows up not as extravagance, but as generosity of attention and care: senior leaders staying personally involved beyond what a project technically requires, issues resolved before a client even knows to worry about them, communication that reassures rather than simply informs.

It’s an idea reflected throughout the guidelines. It shaped the brand’s tone of voice built on reassurance without exaggeration, and a visual identity designed to carry that same calm authority consistently, whether Michael Brady features on a tender document, a site hoarding, or a social media post. It’s a simple initial-based signature, but it says so much.
